Dream Interpretation

We all dream to work out our everyday stresses as we sleep. However there are different types of dreams and some are more meaningful than others. The trouble with dreams is that as they come from the unconscious part of our mind they are like a foreign language and the symbolism in our dreams needs to be translated and this is not always easy.

Dreams also tend to be very personal, so the symbolism may be similar, but needs to be interpreted very individually.

I have found the most accurate way to interpret dreams is to translate the dream as if I was translating a sentence in a foreign language. For example, if the dream was of a house and if I dreamt that the house was on fire and I was caught at the window of the house and unable to get out, then I would take all the key elements - the house, the fire, me, window, unable to get out - and translate the meaning of each of those and put them back together for an interpretation.

In this case the house represents the self; the fire represents anger and power; me represents a younger part of myself and the translation of this dream which was a common nightmare for me as a child tells me that I was keeping a lot of anger held in as a child and I was unable to get it out and express it. As such it meant that my true power, that is my creativity, my femininity and my individuality were also not able to be expressed and were similarly masked by the anger.

What did surprise me when I started to run workshops on dream interpretation was how much our dreams were a message from our higher selves to do with our purpose in life and our spirituality. However, even though we can have our dreams interpreted, it is amazing how many of us will still shun the true meaning and try to find alternative ways to move forward in our lives.

Nightmares are also dreams, but ones that we remember more starkly, but they are just messages that our minds really need us to get and are always associated with a learning we need to know and understand. Because they are usually associated with feelings of fear and even horror, they tend to stick more clearly in our minds. The great thing is that under the fear and the horror are some amazing treasures to be unearthed.

Out of Body Experiences & Dissociation

Ever had that feeling that you didn't quite belong to yourself? It may be that you felt that you had a shadow or it may be that you learnt to just occasionally come out of your body. An out of body experience (OBE) is often felt as a separation from yourself. Sometimes you may be aware of following yourself around and at other times the person is aware of being above themselves looking down and watching what is going on.

Some people seem to have a greater affinity and natural ability to do this and some learn to do it at times of stress, which can then become habitual in times of trouble. Some people even forget how to get back into their body again which can leave you feeling very ungrounded and not knowing how to be present in your body.

When working in the psychic realms it is very important that you are well grounded, so that you always know where the here and now is and can find your way back again.

Reaching high states of enlightenment either through meditation or sudden experience or recreational drugs, can leave you dissociated and you can wander around like that for years unless you know what has happened to you! Bad experiences on recreational drugs can, unfortunately, as I have said, have the same effect and seems to lead to long term panic and anxiety attacks both at night and during the day.

The great thing is you can reach these same amazing places of experience without the use of drugs and you can learn to stay back in your body and be grounded and present.
